Safeguarding
Mowden Hall School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all its staff to share this commitment. We aim to provide a warm and secure environment, with an open and inclusive atmosphere, in which all children and members of our community feel supported.
The fundamental right to be protected from harm is an essential part of our pastoral responsibility. That safeguarding responsibility necessitates our having a clear child protection policy and procedures, and means that we may also need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare.
As individuals working with children we all have a care of duty to safeguard and protect.
Our objectives are:
- to identify children who are suffering from or are likely to suffer significant harm, and take appropriate action to make sure they are safe
- to provide a safe environment for children to learn
- to help children to understand the nature of abuse and who may abuse
- to provide them with knowledge, develop their confidence to report abuse and building positive personal, social and emotional skills
Our Mental Health Lead is Nurse Laura Danby, email: ldanby@mowdenhallpst.org
The Designated Safeguarding Lead for Child Protection for the school is Mr Phil Sturt.
